Story
Hi,
I'm Andy. Thanks for stopping by!
I started PUSH design studio way back in 1994 as a means to pay my tuition for the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto. 30 years later, that company has gone from being a small art-based student business to a successful and internationally award-winning architectural design consultancy. Now, having (mostly) retired from the hustle of architectural design the company is coming full circle back to its artistic roots alongside my teenage son and daughter as we attempt to transition back into an art-based business to help them work their way (along an equally valuable path of life and business experience) toward possible careers in the creative arts and/or engineering.
Over the decades, I have often returned to art as a break from the stresses of my design work. Occasionally, I have created artistic works to accompany condo or restaurant designs, but largely my artistic work has been solely for my own enjoyment.
As my daughter has begun to take an interest in graphic arts as a career path while my son leans toward automotive design and engineering, however, it has developed into a shared family business endeavor that I hope will be an experience we will all cherish and learn valuable life and business lessons from.
While we have a section for traditional wall-hung artwork, we are much more enthusiastic about getting art down off the walls of your house and into our (and your) daily lives because, after all, can't we all use a little more art in our lives? To that end, we are diving deep into exploring the use of original artwork applied to everyday products and apparel.
